Do We Look For Feedback About Our Lives?

Mother Teresa quote

“Failure is merely feedback that there is something blocking the path of emergence and expansion of the greatest version of yourself.”

– Mother Teresa

We often think of feedback in relation to our work behaviour or the completion of a task. How often do we sit and reflect on how it affects our lives?

We all know about Edison and his attempts to get a working lightbulb; it wasn’t 10,000 failures, it was 10,000 ways it won’t work. In other words, he didn’t see failure, he saw a theory that didn’t work in practice.

Our life isn’t a theory, it’s a work in practice.

I don’t have a magic pill that will make your life better. I don’t know your struggles financially, mentally, physically or emotionally. I can suggest there are three keywords in this quote that you could explore and use as feedback. They are:

  • Blocking.
  • Emergence.
  • Expansion.

By removing the first (blocking) you may be able to move onto the second and third (emergence and expansion).

Some blocks may be out of your control but it is still in your power to look for alternative routes, to search for an alternative path. Doing that can never be considered a failure.
